Recent Events

- On January 18, 2012, a hot luncheon buffet at the Washington office of Venable LLP featuring as speaker Congressman Bob Gibbs (R-OH), Chairman, Subcommittee on Water Resources and Environment of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. 

- On December 13, 2011, our Annual Holiday Reception at the St. Regis Hotel, Washington, D.C. with close to 300 in attendance - the best turnout ever.

- On October 12, 2011, a luncheon held jointly with the Maritime Administrative Bar Association at the Washington office of K&L Gates featuring the president of the Shanghai Shipping Exchange, Mr. Ye Zhang, speaker.

- On September 14, 2011, a hot breakfast buffet at the Washington office of Venable LLP featuring Congressman Charles Boustany, Jr. (R-LA) of the Ways and Means Committee as speaker.

- On July 13, 2011, a luncheon buffet at the Washington office of Venable LLP featuring Sean T. Connaughton, Secretary, Department of Transportation, Commonwealth of Virginia, as speaker.

- On June 22, a luncheon buffet at the Washington office of Venable LLP featuring Richard A. Lidinsky, Jr., Chairman, Federal Maritime Commission, as speaker.

- On May 19, 2011, one of the highlights of the year, the National Maritime Day Luncheon at the Washington Navy Yard - with 200 in attendance - sponsored jointly by the Propeller Club of Washington, D.C. and the Kings Point Club of Washington. The keynote speaker was General Duncan J. McNabb, Commander, USTRANSCOM, and speaking briefly was General McNabb’s luncheon guest Herb Kelleher, Founder and former CEO, Southwest Airlines, whose merchant mariner brother was killed during WWII while on duty.  He was honored postumously at the Maritime Administration earlier in the day.

- On February 22, 2011, a luncheon buffet at the Washington office of Venable LLP featuring Admiral Robert J. Papp, Commandant, United States Coast Guard, as speaker.

- On January 19, 2011, a luncheon buffet at the Washington office of Venable LLP featuring Federal Maritime Commissioner Michael A. Khouri as speaker.

- On December 14, 2010, the Propeller Club of Washington’s annual Holiday Party in the Astor Ballroom of the St. Regis Hotel with record attendance.

- On November 16, 2010, a Post-Election Panel and Continental Breakfast held at the Washington office of K&L Gates with panelists Chris Koch, President and CEO of the World Shipping Council; Jim Patti, President, Maritime Institute for Research and Industrial Development (MIRAID); and moderator John Gallagher of IHS-Global Insight, and Senior Americas Reporter, Fairplay Magazine.

- In October 2010 a luncheon buffet at the Washington office of Venablle LLP featuring Rear Admiral Mark H. Buzby, Commander, Military Sealift Command as speaker.

- In September 2010 - accompanied by a hot breakfast buffet - an expert panel on the oil spill recovery issue. The panel discussed the possible legislative and regulatory actions that could impact both traditional maritime activities and offshore energy development.

- A luncheon in July 2010 featuring Mark Ruge of the Maritime Cabotage Task Force on the recent Jones Act defense strategy.

- The National Maritime Day Luncheon in May 2010 at the Washington Navy Yard’s Conference Center with close to 200 in attendance featuring David Matsuda, Acting Maritime Administrator (Department of Transportation) as speaker.

- A breakfast in April 2010 with Curtis Whalen, Executive Director, American Trucking Association, as speaker who addressed the F4A Clean Truck Amendment, as well as other intermodal trucking issues.

- A breakfast in February 2010 featuring two high-level Senate staffers discussing the 2010 maritime congressional agenda.
